The Impact of National Primary School Competitions
– Spelling and Times Tables by the University of Manchester
The University of Manchester studied the impact of Emile’s National Primary School competitions covering spelling and times tables (the MTC Cup). All the Emile competitions were found to have a “significant effect on recall and fluency”.
Across the MTC Cup, the percentage of students getting 25 out of 25 increased from 25.7% to 49.7%.
Across the Spelling Competition, 81% of students increased their effective spelling age by at least 1 year.
